Study Overview

Brief Summary

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer are increasing worldwide, affecting people at younger ages. Many of these diseases are caused by unhealthy behaviour’s such as poor diet, lack of exercise, and the use of tobacco and alcohol. Since these habits often begin in childhood, it is important to teach young people how to live healthier lives early on.

The School Health Project aims to educate school children aged 13-15 years (8th grade) about the importance of a healthy diet, regular physical activity, and the dangers of tobacco and alcohol use. The project will take place in public and private schools in Mumbai, Punjab, and Visakhapatnam, involving 1,200 students.

The project will use interactive classroom sessions, educational videos, and printed materials to improve students’ knowledge and encourage healthier behaviours. A team of trained professionals, including doctors and health educators, will conduct these sessions.

Students’ knowledge and habits will be measured before and after the program to assess its impact. The goal is to reduce unhealthy behaviour’s and promote lifelong healthy habits. If successful, this project could be expanded to more schools across India.
