Inclusion Criteria
Patients with a diagnosis of chronic hydrocephalus and the presence of at least one symptom of the Hakim triad who will undergo surgical therapy
Exclusion Criteria
- hydrocephalus without a symptom of the Hakim triad
- hydrocephalus of other etiology (for example post-hemorrhagic, in meningeosis carcinomatosa, in Arnold-Chiari malformation)
- bedridden patients
- pregnancy, lactation
- professional caregivers as study participants

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method It is intended to quantify the discrepancy in expected therapy outcome between the treating surgeons and the caregiver of a hydrocephalus patient.<br>For this purpose, the questionnaires of the expected therapy outcome will be compared between the patient and the treating surgeon. Sign test will be used to investigate whether there are significant differences in the expectations of both groups. In addition, the agreement of the expectations between the groups will be assessed by means of the Cohen's kappa coefficient.
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method The scores of expected treatment outcome, both relatives and surgeons, are compared with the scores of postoperative examination. Furthermore, the scores of the preoperative and postoperative examination are compared to assess the actual outcome. In addition, the influence of the different characteristics on the expectations of the relatives and surgeons will also be investigated.
