Inclusion Criteria
all children between 6 months and five years hospitalized with severe dehydration due to acute watery diarrhea
Exclusion Criteria
malnourished children
children presenting with septic shock
children who cannot be fed orally due to persistent vomiting/ unconsciousness/seizures
children who received antibiotic/antimotility agent prior to hospitalization
