1. Patient aged more than or equal to 18 years, both the genders in the emergency and medical/surgical intensive care units.
2. Requiring artifical ventilation for more than 48 hours
3. Subject or legally authorized representative/patient relative willing to provide written informed consent.
1.A regular ET tube without continuous aspiration of subglottic secretion port
2. A previous diagnosis of
a. Pulmonary tuberculosis
b. Bronchopneumonia
c. HIV
d. Ventricular fibrillation
e. Cardiac arrest
f. Bleeding disorders/ on oral anticoagulants
g. Pregnancy
h. Head/ neck/ facial injuries
3. Tracheostomy at the time of admission
4. Patients enrolled for another clinical study
