Brief Summary

The study was an interventional study. The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of health education on tobacco use among police personnel in haldia city, west bengal. Purpose of the study- Policing is a complex occupation. Police personnel are under continuous job stress.Though tobacco use is hazardous but hectic lifestyle restricts the assess of tobacco cessation.So a questionnaire on knowledge about tobacco use was given to the police personnel at baseline. After one week  a health education was given to the police personnel using powerpoint presentation and video. Following the health education giving a gap of 2 weeks the same questionnaire was given to the police personnel. Then the knowledge of pre and post  questionnaire was assessed. There was a difference found among the police personnel between the knowledge increaesed in the  post intervention questionnaire.

Inclusion Criteria

• 1.Only male participants are included.
• 2.Police personnel who are consuming tobacco for a minimum of 6 months.
• 3.Police personnel who are consuming tobacco minimum of 3-4 times per day.

Exclusion Criteria

• 1.Tobacco consumers with other drug dependence.
• Tobacco consumers who are under those medication which may interfere with this intervention.
• Police personnel who are currently involved in any other smoking cessation methods.
