Brief Summary

Metabolic surgery results in a drop in plasma fibrinogen levels as early as three months postoperatively in the Malaysian obese population. There is a significant correlation between the levels of plasma fibrinogen and excess BMI loss, regardless of whether sleeve gastrectomy or Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery is performed. This may suggest that weight reduction after metabolic surgery may result in a lower risk of thrombosis.
