Inclusion Criteria

Sufficiently pronounced gonarthrosis to justify a knee TEP
- Diagnosis guaranteed by standard X-ray (AP, lateral, patella tangential, Rosenberg, whole leg)
- frustrating conservative therapy

Exclusion Criteria

Exclusion criteria (knee related)
- arthrofibrosis
- Extension deficit (<20 °)
- flexion deficit (> 100 °)
- Posterior cruciate ligament insufficiency
- Significant deficits in the knee extension apparatus

Exclusion criteria (not knee related)
- Insufficient skills in the German language
- Immunological diseases / autoimmune diseases
- age <35 years; Age> 75 years
- BMI> 35
- Manifest osteoporosis
- Neurological diseases (e.g. Parkinson's, self-reported)
- Major other lower limb injuries / operations (e.g. insufficient PCL)
- Leg axis deviation> 15 ° (varus or valgus)
- Breastfeeding or pregnant women
- Visual impairments that affect balance and stabilization
- ASA> 2
- dementia
- serious psychological disorder
- Alcohol abuse
- Disseminated malignancy
- Serious systemic diseases
- Inflammatory arthritis
- Acute local or septic infection
- Previous change osteotomy
- Employment in the Mediapark Clinic Cologne, the Institute for Functional Diagnostics Cologne, the German Sport University Cologne or the University of Witten / Herdecke

Oxford Knee Score (12 months post-surgery)
Secondary Outcome Measures
NameTimeMethod
WOMAC Score, Tegner Score and the Activities-Specific Balance Confidence Scale (ABC Scale). Furthermore, the patients are examined biomechanically at two different times when walking, climbing stairs, going down (ramp) and squatting 6 and 12 months after the operation.
