Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\. Teeth without root canal fillings that are extracted due to advanced periodontal bone loss or fractures which have a hopeless prognosis.
- •2\. Patient with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis with no other systemic disease.
- •3\. Presence of deep infra\-bony defect with a probing depth of \>5 mm at baseline.
- •4\. Presence of infra\-bony component of at least 3 mm as detected on the radiograph.
- •5\. Patients with a good level of oral hygiene with Plaque Index (PI, Loe and Sillness).
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\. Root canal treated teeth
- •2\. Patients with systemic disease discovered on routine investigations during the study
- •(such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, etc.) which could influence the outcome of the
- •3\. Pregnant and lactating mothers or those planning a pregnancy.
- •4\. History within the last 6 months of oral cancer or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).
- •5\. Patients with life threatening disease
- •6\. History of previous periodontal surgery on the study tooth within the last year;
- •7\. Patients with bleeding disorders.
- •8\. Patients suffering from allergic conditions or a history of allergies.
- •9\. Patients on long\-term antibiotics.
