Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Adult patients (aged between 18 and 75y) of American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status I or II, of either sex undergoing emergency laparotomy under general anaesthesia requiring arterial cannulation for intraoperative management will be recruited in this study.
Exclusion Criteria
- •1.Patients or relativeâ??s refusal to participate in the study
- •2.Patients undergoing elective laparotomy
- •3.Known COPD or other chronic lung diseases
- •4.Known deformity of chest wall or thoracic spine
- •5.Pre-existing significant cardiac, renal and hepatic diseases
- •6.Intraoperative massive blood loss or massive transfusion
- •7.Patients who are on high dose of vasopressor (defined as noradrenalin > 10mcg/m)
