Inclusion Criteria

1. Aged >=65 years; 2. Patients undergoing painless gastrointestinal endoscopy; 3. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification I or II.

Exclusion Criteria

1. severe cardiac, pulmonary, hepatic, or renal insufficiency; 2. patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; 3. pregnant and lactating patients; 4. abnormal blood clotting conditions; 5. allergic to drugs used in this study; 6. hypotensive patients (systolic blood pressure = 90 mmHg); 7. hypertensive patients (systolic blood pressure = 160 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure = 100 mmHg); 8. bradycardic patients ( Heart rate =50 beats/min); 9. Patients who refused to sign the informed consent; 10. Patients with hypoxemia (SpO2 <90%); 11. Patients with atrioventricular block; 12. Patients with psychosomatic diseases.
