Inclusion Criteria
Children between 6 months to 5 yrs referred to OPD &/or admitted with SAM as per one of the 3 criteria (WHO) W/H < -3 SD,MUAC < 11.5 cm or Bilateral Pedal edema
Exclusion Criteria
1.Children with chronic illnesses
2.Inability to take orally
3.Children already on any nutritional supplements

Name Time Method 1 To compare the rate of weight gain (gms/kg/day)at the end of 2 weeks 8 weeks and 6 months from time of enrollment <br/ ><br>2 To determine the proportion of children who achieve target weight within 2 weeks weeks and at 6 months. <br/ ><br>3 To determine the number of infection episodes at 6 months <br/ ><br>Timepoint: 8 weeks
