Inclusion Criteria

1.Clinical suspicion of hepatitis with or without hyperbilirubinemia.

2.Any age

3.Serologically proven hepatitis E infection with detectable Anti HEV IgM antibody irrespective of the presence of other causative factors for hepatitis

4.First visit within 3 weeks of onset of symptoms

Exclusion Criteria

1.Drug induced hepatitis

2.Any other cases of jaundice where Anti HEV IgM antibody is absent

Primary Outcome Measures

1.Recovered: Liver function within normal limit in the final follow up, no subjective symptom, <br/ ><br>2.Recovered with complications or other organ involvement <br/ ><br>3.Recovering: Liver enzymes up to 3 times of the upper normal limit in the final follow up, no/ minimal subjective symptom, <br/ ><br>4.Not recovered: Any one or more of persistent symptoms with persistent elevation of liver enzymes, progression to chronic illness in radiological or clinical diagnosis, liver failure with or without coagulopathy <br/ ><br>5.Death <br/ ><br>Timepoint: The patients will be observed in three different time frames. <br/ ><br>1.The first visit of the patient will be considered as baseline; this should be within 3 weeks of onset of the symptoms. <br/ ><br>2.The second (follow up) visit will be done at 6 weeks of the first visit. <br/ ><br>3.The third (follow up) visit will be done at 12 weeks of the first visit.
