1. Age above 60 years, but for the intervention age was restricted between 60-80 years.
2. Subjects 6 months less than 60 years of age (as they are likely to become 60 years of age during intervention period).
3. Willing to participate in the study.
4. Expects to remain in the area during the study period.
PHASE I
1. Subjects with severe morbidity related to bone (Such subjects were referred to hospital).
2. Subjects with other illness required hospitalization.
3. Subjects who were likely to move away from study area during the study period.
4. Refused to participate.
5. Visible severe wasting or malnourished.
6. Subjects who were suffering from chronic diseases, which required therapeutic intervention.
PHASE II
1. Subjects who were taking calcium and vitamin D supplementation or took the same in last 6 months.
2. Subjects having any history of calcium stones or similar health problems.
