入排标准

入选标准

  • Individuals having the primary diagnosis of unipolar depression based on standard ICD 10 diagnostic criteria. Individuals having HAM-D (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale) score between 14-28 indicative of moderately and moderately severe degree of depression, having recurrent episodes and the duration of symptoms is more than two weeks
  • Individuals having the primary diagnosis of bipolar depression based on standard ICD 10 diagnostic criteria. Individuals should be in the depressive state for past three months (rated on scales of depression; HAM-D) and mania (Young Mania Rating Scale) for validation of present state. Individuals should have been on stable medication regime since three months
  • Individuals having the primary diagnosis of schizophrenia based on standard ICD 10 diagnostic criteria. Individuals should have been on stable medication regime since three months and having the same diagnosis since two years
  • Individuals with age, gender and education matched and not meeting the diagnostic criteria for unipolar depression or bipolar depression or schizophrenia or any other mental illness
  • Individuals in all groups should have Kannada as their first language and language of communication

排除标准

  • Groups 1, 2, and 3
  • Individuals with neurological conditions/history of substance abuse except on nicotine since past 6 months/epilepsy/traumatic brain injury/having uncorrected hearing and vision, uncontrolled medical conditions or co-morbid conditions. Individuals with any other speech-language deficits such as stuttering, aphasia, dysarthria or dementia. Individuals having visual impairment or color blindness and those who are uncooperative, which interferes with language sample collection. Specifically for group 3, individuals having post schizophrenia depression
  • Participants with any history psychiatric illness or first degree relative with history of affective disorders, dementia, cerebrovascular disease. Individuals with history of substance abuse (except nicotine)
