Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •Known clinician made diagnosis of COPD with supporting spirometry or a high probability of the disease (on the basis of clinical history, smoking history, physical examination and chest radiograph).
- •Adult males and females.
Exclusion Criteria
- •Patients admitted to the ICU with COPD but in whom this was not the primary reason for admission (such as those with COPD admitted after surgery or trauma) were excluded.
