Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •presence of mandibular third molars on both sides in retained or impacted form
  • •\- complete root growth of the second lower molars
  • •\- periodontal screening index \=2
  • •\- written informed consent from the adolescent or adult patient or legal guardian

Exclusion Criteria

  • •\- one of the points mentioned under the inclusion criteria” does not apply
  • •\- systemic diseases that can affect wound healing after oral surgery (e.g. diabetes mellitus)
  • •\- nicotine consumption \>10 cigarettes per day
  • •\- pregnancy
