- Brief Summary
This study is a randomized, controlled clinical trial a split-mouth design comparing the clinical efficacy of scaling & root planning, diode laser 660nm, photodynamic therapy using Toluidine blue ’O’ dye in the management of periodontitis that will be conducted in sree sai dental college and research institute, Srikakulam. A total of 15 patients will beincluded in a split-mouth design. Afterobtaining informed consent, the patients will be randomly allocated intothree groups. Group 1will receivescaling and root planing alone, Group 2 will receive SRP along with Diodelaser irradiation, Group 3 will receive SRP along with Photodynamic Therapy. Scaling and root planingwill be done under LA using hand instruments followed by oral hygieneinstructions. Diode Laserirradiation with a wavelength of 660nm, a power output of 0.6W will be appliedin the selected quadrant, and each selectedsite will be irradiated for 10 secs. Photodynamic therapy- The selected sites will be rinsed with a photosensitizer (Toluidine blue ‘O’0.01%) employing a blunt cannula; excess photosensitizer is removed after oneminute, followed by laser irradiation
