Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •1\.Consenting parents and assenting children (aged 6 to 11\) and adolescents (12\-18\)
- •2\.ASA grade 1\-III
- •3\.Undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia requiring postoperative urinary catheterization.
Exclusion Criteria
- •1\.Parents not willing to give consent.
- •2\.Surgery involving the bladder neck, patient on long\-term catheterization.
- •3\.Intellectual disability, mentally challenged.
- •4\.Long\-term use of analgesics.
- •5\.Patients having bladder\-related pathologies viz overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, urinary tract infection, etc.
- •6\.Continuous caudal analgesia.
- •7\.Chronic renal insufficiency (serum creatinine \>1\.5 mg/dl) or liver insufficiency (total bilirubin \>34\.2 mmol/l).
- •8\.Children who have preoperative catheters in situ.
- •9\.Children who cannot be extubated at the end of surgery.
- •10\.Children who undergo suprapubic catheterization.
