1.Consenting parents and assenting children (aged 6 to 11) and adolescents (12-18)
2.ASA grade 1-III
3.Undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia requiring postoperative urinary catheterization.
1.Parents not willing to give consent.
2.Surgery involving the bladder neck, patient on long-term catheterization.
3.Intellectual disability, mentally challenged.
4.Long-term use of analgesics.
5.Patients having bladder-related pathologies viz overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, urinary tract infection, etc.
6.Continuous caudal analgesia.
7.Chronic renal insufficiency (serum creatinine >1.5 mg/dl) or liver insufficiency (total bilirubin >34.2 mmol/l).
8.Children who have preoperative catheters in situ.
9.Children who cannot be extubated at the end of surgery.
10.Children who undergo suprapubic catheterization.
