- 40
first-ever stroke, within subacute or chronic stage at the time of study
- unable to gait independently after the stroke due to unilateral lower extremity paresis or sensory impairment
- able to sit independently or under supervision at least five minutes
- sufficient postural control to allow upright position in standing with support
- able to understand training instructions
- history of previous stroke
- who were unable to walk independently even before stroke
- contracture restricting gait at any lower limb joint (hip, knee, ankle)
- cardiovascular or other somatic condition incompatible with intensive gait training
- who are receiving any other treatment that may affect the study results
