Quality of Life and Factors Affecting Community Participation Among Elderly in Trivandrum: A Mixed-Method Study

This is mixed-method study. Community-based descriptive cross-sectional study, to estimate the quality of life among elderly population and in-depth interview to gather qualitative insights into the experiences and perspectives of the elderly regarding their community participation. The study will be conducted in selected panchayat of Nedumangad Taluk in Trivandrum. The WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire consists of 26 items that assess quality of life across four domains: Physical health, psychological health, social relationships and environment. Each item is scored on a 5-point Likert scale, with higher scores indicating better quality of life. In-depth interview for assessing the barriers and facilitators of participation in community engaging activities among elderly population. Quantitative Data will be collected using Epicollect5. Data analysis will be done using Jamovi version 2.3.28 (or an updated version).
