简要总结
ERAS(Enhanced recovery after the surgery) society has provided multimodal approachfor perioperative care of patients to improve postoperative outcome. The aim of implementationof ERAS protocol is to reduce the surgical stress, maintain normal physiologyto expedite the recovery. ERAS protocols have been developed in various orthopaedicand spine surgeries including bone and spine tumours. It has provenbeneficial in terms of mortalities, morbidities and length of hospital stay.
Boneand soft tissue tumours are of various types and occurs in both adults andchildren. Orthopaedic oncosurgeries involves benign, malignant and metastaticbone tumours and soft tissue tumours. Recent surgicalmanagement for musculoskeletal tumours focuses more on function preservationand overall quality of life. Surgicalmanagement involves significant blood loss, functional impairment. Adjuvantchemotherapy causes various systemic complications which adds to furthermorbidity and mortality. Application ofERAS protocol has been studied in spinal tumours and soft tissue sarcomas, butevidence in bone tumours and soft tissue sarcoma is scarce.
Theaim of our study is to conduct a prospective observational study to determinethe compliance to enhanced recovery pathway in patients undergoing surgeriesfor musculoskeletal tumours at our tertiary care cancer centre.
