Patients between 45 and 70 years of age with normal LV function and acceptable TTE window posted for elective CABG surgery.
Patients with persistent arrhythmia, associated structural heart disease, ejection fraction <50%, congestive cardiac failure, on mechanical ventilation, IABP , redo surgery/ emergency surgery, morbid obesity, difficult airway having problem in mask ventilation, emphysematous chest or any chest deformity with poor window for TTE, signs of actual angina or acute myocardial infarction within the last 30 days, known adrenal insufficiency, history of steroid use in the preceding six months, and those with severe systemic non-cardiac disease other than diabetes and hypertension.
