Inclusion Criteria
Patients with BMI of ≥40 kg/m2
no history of renal disease
scheduled for bariatric surgery at our centre
Exclusion Criteria
Patients who received steroid therapy within six months prior to the surgery
patients with malignancy
patients who are pregnant
patients with stage 3A kidney disease and beyond (defined as an eGFR <60 mL/min/1.73m2)
