Children needed to have a specific speech development disorder (ICD-10-Codes: F80.1, F80.2, F83). Due to the close relation to phonological abilities scores below 50 points of 100 in the phonological short-term memory for for non-words (German: PGN) and one other subscale of the applied speech test SETK 3-5, were also considered significant for inclusion in the study. German as the native language was also a precondition
previous experience with music therapy,
a diagnosis of autism or mutism,
and speech development disorder due to organic causes (e.g. deafness).
