Eligibility Criteria

Inclusion Criteria

  • •\-Primigravida
  • •\-Maternal age \> 18 years old
  • •\-Singleton
  • •\-Term (gestational age 37 weeks, or more) and
  • •\-Mother\-infant separation 6 to 48 hours after vaginal delivery.

Exclusion Criteria

  • •Maternal conditions
  • •\-HIV infection
  • •\-Pulmonary tuberculosis
  • •\-Heart disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, Postpartum depression
  • •\-On medications ; antibiotics or chemotherapy
  • •\-Infection around the breast and inverted nipple.
  • •Infant conditions
  • •\-Birth weight \> 4000 grams or \< 2000 grams
  • •\-Neonatal resuscitation
  • •\-Birth trauma
