简要总结
Apabahuka is one among the Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhis a condition that hampers
the normal functioning of the upper limbs thereby significantly affecting an individuals daily
life It is primarily caused by the vitiation of Vyana Vata which localizes in the Amsa
Pradesha shoulder region This leads to the Shoshana degeneration of Shleshaka Kapha
Mamsa muscle tissue Sira vessels and Snayu ligaments resulting in symptoms such as
restricted shoulder movements Bahupraspanditaharatwam pain Shoola and stiffness
Stambha These symptoms closely resemble those observed in Frozen Shoulder This
condition is recognized in the modern medical system
Frozen Shoulder is described as an idiopathic disorder that manifests with painful
stiffness and progressive restriction of both active and passive shoulder movements despite
normal radiographic findings of the glenohumeral joint This condition impacts basic
functional activities such as eating dressing maintaining hygiene and working thus severely
impairing the patients quality of life The prevalence in the general population is around 3

affects individuals between 40 60 years of age and is observed more frequently in females
Contemporary management typically involves the use of analgesics intra articular
corticosteroid injections and physiotherapy However these interventions often provide only
temporary symptomatic relief
In contrast Ayurvedic texts offer a more holistic line of treatment for Apabahuka
including NasyaUttarabhaktika Snehapana Swedana and Shamanoushadhis Among
these Nasya will help in strengthening the Skanda shoulder and Greeva neck
Ksheerabala Taila as referenced in Sahasrayogam is a classical formulation widely used for
Nasya for the management of Vata disorders especially neuromuscular conditions due to its
Snehana and Brmhana properties with key ingredients including Bala Sida cordifolia

Erandadi Guggulu as referenced in Vangasena Samhita under Vatavyadhi Chikitsa
is a classical Ayurvedic formulation commonly used in the management of Vata disorders
affecting the joints and musculoskeletal system particularly conditions involving pain
stiffness and restricted mobility such as Apabahuka frozen shoulder It contains key
ingredients including Erandamoola Panchakola Raktapunarnava Shwetapunarnava Bala

Kantakari Visagra Ashwagandha Shatavari Vasa Dhaynaka Aragvadha Vruddhadaru
Ajamoda Haridra Daruharidra Guggulu which collectively exhibit Vatakaphahara
Shoolahara Shothahara Amapachana and Srotoshodhana properties
Additionally Rasnadi Guggulu found in Yogaratnakaras Vatavyadhiadhikara

These have Ushna Virya and function as Deepana Pachana Vatakaphanashaka
Shoolahara Shothahara and Balya Through these GunaKarmas the selected
formulations may help in achieving Samprapti Vighatana of Apabahuka
Thus this study aims to assess A Randomized Comparative Clinical Study to
Evaluate the Efficacy of Erandadi Guggulu over Rasanadi Guggulu along with Ksheera
Bala Taila Pratimarsha Nasya in the Management of Apabahuka with special reference to
Frozen
