Inclusion Criteria

All adult patients (18-65 years) admitted to the inpatient and day-hospital treatment program of personality disorders at Scelta, GGNet in Apeldoorn.;Inclusion criteria
- The patient has one or more DSM-IV personality disorders as primary diagnosis
- The patient is able to participate in the follow up assessments at 6 and 12 months.
- The patient is willing to participate in the study.

Exclusion Criteria

- an IQ below 80 or are unable to read, speak or write the Dutch language

Primary Outcome Measures

<p>Primary outcome are the total number of personality disorders traits at last<br /><br>follow-up (21 months after baseline). Personality disorders traits are measured<br /><br>with the Assessment of DSM-IV personality disorders questionnaire (ADP-IV).<br /><br><br /><br>Attachment and the therapeutic relationship are being assessed with the<br /><br>Relationship Structures questionnaire of the Experiences in Close Relationships<br /><br>(ECR-RS) en Working Alliance Inventory-Short Form (WAI-S). </p><br>

<p>Second study parameters are general psychological functioning, well-being and<br /><br>quality of life.<br /><br>- General psychological functioning is assessed with the Outcome Questionnaire<br /><br>45 (OQ-45).<br /><br>- Well-being is assessed with Mental Health Continuum*Short Form (MHC-SF).<br /><br>- Quality of life is assessed with the Sheffield Short Form-36 (SF-36).<br /><br><br /><br>Tertiaire study parameters are:<br /><br>- Self-compassion is assessed with the Self Compassion Scale - Short Form<br /><br>(SCS-SF).<br /><br>- Self-criticism is measured with the Forms of Self-Criticizing / Attacking and<br /><br>Self-Reassuring Scale (FSCRS).</p><br>
