Inclusion Criteria

Participants in the present study will be third-year GP trainees. From September 2010 through June 2012 all GP trainees who start their third year of education at the department of General Practice of the Erasmus MC will enroll in the study. A total of ± 140 GP trainees (male/female) will be enrolled, divided into 12 groups of ± 12 trainees per group.

Primary Outcome Measures

Our primary outcome measures are change in scientific attitude, knowledge and skills in the intervention group as compared to the control group.<br /><br>At baseline, demographic data and details on prior research experience are collected. The scientific skills and self-efficacy are questioned and knowledge is tested.
Secondary Outcome Measures

Process evaluation is used to assess the social processes that take place during the educational intervention. For example: Identify barriers and facilitators of the learning process, extent and manner of trainees to participate research in practice, participation and evaluation education, desired and undesired effects such as the development of (in) formal learning environment in which scientific articles are discussed, experiences are shared and exchanged on the cohort.
