简要总结
**5.**Symphysisfractures intraorally are approached by lower vestibular incisions which givesadvantageous access to the fracture. One of the important anatomical structuresencountered in the surgical field is the Mentalis muscle. It is important tonote that the Mentalis muscle, being the only elevator of lower lip needs to berepositioned in a proper way to prevent untowardly aesthetic complications. Inone hand Conventional vestibular incisions require detachment of the mentalismuscle for exposure and concerns arise over proper repositioning of muscle. On theother hand, Modified vestibular incisions with the provision of adequateexposure provide us the option of muscle sparring, thus aiding in uneventfulreposition and better functional and aesthetic outcome. Due to lack of specificstudies in literature, more research regarding the same is highly recommended.

结局指标
主要结局
1.Assessment of post operative function of mentalis muscle based on specific criteria
时间窗: 1 week and 1 month post surgery
2.Total time taken for the surgery
时间窗: 1 week and 1 month post surgery
3.Adequacy of the exposure
时间窗: 1 week and 1 month post surgery
4.The clinical evaluation will help in determining need for further management of mentalis muscle dysfunction
时间窗: 1 week and 1 month post surgery
次要结局
- To help create a consensus among the clinicians on postoperative aesthetic & functional complications with respect to mentalis muscle dysfunction(2. Formulating guidelines for decision making in the incisions which would be appropriate in managing mandibular symphysis fractures)
