One hundred and ten pregnant women attending and enlisted consecutively the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dr R. P. G. Medical College, Kangra (Tanda), HP for caesarean section for any obstetrics indication
1.who are aged <18 years and who do not consent to participate in the study
2.having any pre-existing medical/surgical illness (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hepatorenal disease, or any other condition that might affect wound healing)
3.having obesity (Body mass index >35, Sub-cutaneous fat thickness >3cm)
4.having alcohol or drug abuse
5.having contraindication to anesthesia/postoperative use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents
6.prolonged premature rupture of membranes ( >24 hours)/ chorio-amniotis
7.emergency cesarean section where antibiotic prophylaxis has not been administered at least 30 minutes prior to skin incision
