简要总结

Our study demonstrated that people who undergo laparoscopy for gynecological problems have rates of constipation of 70%. This constipation was bothersome to the patient. We did not find any reason why some people would be higher risk of constipation than others.

•Planned laparoscopic surgery for benign gyneacological indications

排除标准

•Non consent
•Non English speaking
•Known chronic bowel conditions (such as inflammatory bowel disorders, bowel malignancy – active or previously treated, diverticular disease) with exception of IBS
•Planned bowel shaving or bowel resection
•Intra-operative bowel injury
•Bowel preparation prior to surgery
•Planned hysterectomy
•Conversion to laparotomy
