简要总结

Need of study:

The study addresses the crucial need to establish normative values for reaction time (RT) in adolescents, as RT serves as an important indicator of sensory-motor integration, cognitive processing, and neurological health. Although the ruler drop test is a widely used, simple, and effective RT assessment, standardized values for adolescents are lacking. Existing data for pre-pubertal children cannot be applied to this group due to the physiological and neurological changes of puberty. Adolescence is a key period of cognitive maturation, motor skill refinement, and sensory integration, making accurate RT benchmarks essential. Establishing age-specific norms will improve the precision and relevance of RT assessments, enhancing their application in both clinical evaluation and research on adolescent neurological and motor performance.

Objectives:

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

Establish Age-Appropriate Normative Values: To determine the normative values of the Ruler Drop Test (RDT) in adolescences aged 10-19 in Urban Indian Population.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE:

Study the Variations in Reaction Time Between Male & Female: To identify significant difference in Reaction Time between the two genders and improvement during adolescents.

Aims:

To establish normative values for the Ruler Drop Test (RDT) in the Urban Indian population, specifically focusing on adolescences aged 10-19yrs to provide a developmental benchmark for reaction time across these critical stages of growth.
