Patient group: the subjects were diagnosed as having carpal tunnel syndrome via electrodiagnostic testing.
Control group: individuals without any carpal tunnel syndrom-related symptoms or abnormal findings at elctrodiagnostic testing
1) central nervous system lesion affecting the hands
2) concomitant lower cervical radiculopathy or other peripheral nerve lesions
3) peripheral vascular disease
4) arthritis in the hand and wrist
5) previous surgical history in the wrist or hand
6) systemic disease, such as tumors, thyroid diseases, fibromyalgia, and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus (glycosylated hemoglobin >9%)
