Inclusion Criteria

(1) score of = 20 for the BDD-YBOCS
(2) primary diagnosis of BDD according to DSM-5
(3) between 18 and 65 years old
(4) access to the Internet via a computer
(5) Internet literacy

Exclusion Criteria

(1) current psychotherapeutical treatment
(2) psychotherapeutical treatment in the last 6 months prior to entering the study
(3) current substance use disorders
(4) current or past bipolar disorder or psychotic disorder
(5) current suicidality or self-harm according to DSISS = 3 (Joiner, Pfaff, & Acres, 2002)
(6) changes in psychopharmaceutical medication over the last 12 weeks

Primary Outcome Measures

The severity of body dysmorphic disorder symptoms serves as primary outcome. Symptom severity will, among others, be measures using the German version of the BDD-YBOCS (Stangier et al., 2000) and the German version of the Brown Assessment of Belief Scale (Buhlmann, 2014).
