Age: 18-65 years; non-smokers; increased cardiovascular risk: overweight or obesity (BMI = 25 kg/m2); blood pressure =130/85 mmHg without medical treatment; slightly increased blood glucose or triglycerides or cholesterol; written informed consent for participation
Intake of statines, oral antidiabetics or antihypertensiva, intended weight reduction, supplementation of vitamin C, E, beta-carotene aswell as polyphenolrich extracts e.g., from green tea cocoa, red wine, cranberries. Participation in another study/clinical trial simultaneously or within the last 30 days. Known pregnancy or lactation.

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Clinical blood pressure (systolic/diastolic), determined after an overnight fast. Measured before and after every intervention. That menas: blood pressure was measured before and after the administration of placebo and active compound

Name Time Method Vascular elasticity (sonography), blood lipids, carbohydrate metabolism (glucose, insulin), oxidized LDL (ELISA), vitamin C, E, beta-carotene (HPLC), arginine (MS), (-)-epicatechin (HPLC).<br>Measured before and after every intervention (active compund and placebo)
