Index group 1: Stable coronary artery disease
Index group 2: Atrial fibrillation
Control group 1: Diabetes/hypetension/hypercholesterolaemia
Control group 2: Healthy subjects

1. Recent acute coronary syndrome or stroke (<3 months)
2. Current use of oral anticoagulantsor antibiotics
3. Bleeding abnormalities e.g von Willebrand's disease
4. Significant hepatic, renal, neoplastic, pyschiatric or connective tissue disease
5. Inability to give informed consent
