简要总结

Title: Design, Development and Testing of Myomotion Corrector Device to Facilitate Knee Joint Mobility: An Exploratory Study

Investigator: Dr Priyanka Padsumbia PT, Dr. Krupa Harikrishna Tank MPT Musculoskeletal, Phd Scholar,  Assistant Professor, School of Physiotherapy,  RK University

Background: The knee is a mobile joint and the available mobility or range of motion (ROM) determines its ability to engage in activities of daily living. The total knee ROM ranges from 0° extension to 140° flexion. Reversible knee flexion contracture is a knee that is unable to fully extend to 0°. Reversible Knee contracture is a common and severe complication after trauma, ligament reconstruction, knee arthritis and total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Scar tissue forms in the intra- and extra-articular regions after trauma or surgery, and the long immobilization time leads to quadriceps inhibition and aggravation of knee contractures. Patients with persistent reversible flexion contracture could possibly experience anterior knee pain and altered gait mechanics. More recently, the need for normal knee extension has been gaining importance. Abnormal flexion contracture can lead to abnormal higher energy expenditure of quadriceps muscle. A 15° flexion contracture led to a need for the quadriceps to contract with 22% more force than a fully extended knee; as the flexion contracture increased to 30°, the quadriceps had to contract with 50% more force. There were several conditions and complications that cause contracture of knee which includes Patella Tendon Repairs, Patella Fractures, Tibial Plateau Fractures, Total Knee Arthroplasty/Replacement, Quadriceps Repairs, Knee Arthroscopies.

Method: Following ethical approval, 50 subjects will be selected as per inclusion and exclusion criteria the outcome measure will be assessed with active range of motion of knee joint. lower limb function will be assessed by lower extremity functional scale. Post treatment assessment will be measured by universal goniometer.

Phase 1: Designing Myomotion Corrector Device to facilitate knee joint mobility.

Phase 2: Developing Myomotion Corrector Device to facilitate knee joint mobility.

Phase 3: Testing Myomotion Corrector Device to facilitate knee joint mobility.
