Effect of airway masks on physiological parameters of healthcare workers: a trial

Phase 4
Completed
Conditions
Healthy healthcare workers
personal protective equipment, filtering facepiece respirator, cardiopulmonary, metabolic, subjective sensation, healthcare workers
Registration Number
TCTR20230630001
Lead Sponsor
General Hospital Dr Saiful Anwar Malang
Brief Summary

In control group, cardiopulmonary parameters changed as expected in normal physiological function (heart rate, pulse rate, and borg scale increased during exercise, while oxygen saturation, end-tidal CO2, and body temperature remain unchanged significantly). Additionally, blood lactate increased during exercise, while blood glucose showed no significant change. In surgical mask, N95 mask, and elastomeric mask group, similar results was observed, with no clinically significant difference between groups.
