- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Primary outcome is the patient’s work ability as measured by the Work Ability Index (WAI). The WAI assesses the degree to which workers consider their state of health adequate to cope with the demands of their jobs. The questionnaire comprises seven dimensions: (1) current work ability compared with lifetime best, (2) work ability in relation to the demands of the job, (3) number of current diseases diagnosed by a physician, (4) estimated work impairment due to diseases, (5) sick leave duration during the past year, (6) own prognosis of work ability two years from now, and (7) mental resources. The WAI score varies from 7 to 49 points, with higher scores indicating better work ability.
The WAI will be assessed at the beginning of the rehabilitation as well as 6 and 12 months after the end of rehabilitation. The first WAI item will also be assessed at discharge.
