Inclusion Criteria

1. Age 18 years of age - 60 years of age

2. Irrespective of caste, religion , sex mild to moderate cases of ulcerative colitis (mayo’s score 3-10 and true and witts criteria)

3.previous diagnosed case of ulcerative colitis.

Exclusion Criteria

1.patient above 60 years and below 18 years of age

2.Toxic mega colon/ Fulminant type of disease

3.Severe type of Ulcerative colitis (Mayo score 11-12)

4.Known active infection (TB, HIV, C. Dificile, CMV)

5.Gastro intestinal perforation

6.Infective colitis, ischemic colitis, solitary ulcer syndrome, irradiation colitis

7.Lactose intolerance.

8.Pregnant females

9.known malignancy

Disease specific subjective parameters on true love’s and witts score . <br/ ><br>Colonoscopic tissue biopsy for diagnosis of ulcerative colitis <br/ ><br>Colonoscopic Mayo’s scoring for disease activityTimepoint: oral medications for period of 12 weeks followed by follow up every 4 weeks once for period of 12 weeks

Assessment of disease activity by follow up colonoscopy by mayos scoring assessment <br/ ><br>Assessment of symptoms of disease via subjective parameters using true loves & witts criteriaTimepoint: After 12 weeks drug will be further continued for 24 weeks with 4 weeks follow up to avoid relapse
