Title:  Effect of Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Training on Endurance and Agility Among Elite Badminton Players: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Badminton is a physically demanding sport requiring high levels of endurance and agility. Elite players often sustain overuse injuries and experience fatigue due to the sport’s multidirectional high-intensity movements. Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training has shown potential for enhancing athletic performance by improving aerobic and anaerobic capacities with lower training loads. However, its application in badminton-specific training remains underexplored.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of BFR training in improving endurance, agility, and fatigue resistance among elite badminton players, with a focus on muscle recovery through creatine phosphokinase (CPK) level analysis.

Methods: A randomized controlled trial will involve 60 elite badminton players divided into experimental (BFR training) and control (traditional training) groups. Both groups will perform shuttle runs three times a week for four weeks. The BFR group will use occlusive cuffs during training. Pre- and post-intervention assessments will include the Illinois Agility Test for agility, CPK levels for muscle recovery, and the Running Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST) for fatigue index evaluation.

Expected Outcomes: It is hypothesized that BFR training will significantly improve agility, reduce fatigue index, and optimize muscle recovery compared to traditional training methods. These findings could provide evidence-based insights for integrating BFR into badminton-specific training regimens.

Significance: This study aims to advance sports rehabilitation by offering a novel, low-load training intervention tailored to badminton’s physical demands. The findings will benefit athletes, coaches, and physiotherapists by improving performance, reducing injury risk, and enhancing recovery.

  • Age: 18-35 years Playing Level: Elite-level badminton players, representing at States and National .
  • Training Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of consistent badminton-specific training.
  • Health Status: Physically healthy with no major injuries in the past 6 months.
  • BMI: 18.5 to 24.9 kg/m² (normal range).
  • Current Participation: Regularly competing or actively involved in high-performance training.
  • Consent: Voluntary written informed consent to participate in the study.

排除标准

  • Existing Injuries: Recent or chronic musculoskeletal injuries, especially in the lower limbs or joints.
  • Cardiovascular Conditions: Diagnosed cardiovascular diseases or conditions that could be aggravated by blood flow restriction.
  • Neurological Disorders: Diagnosed conditions affecting motor function or balance.
  • Vascular Issues: Diagnosed conditions like varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis, or clotting disorders.
  • Medication Use: Players on medications that affect cardiovascular or muscular function, such as blood thinners.
  • Previous Surgeries: Recent surgery (within the last 6 months) affecting musculoskeletal or cardiovascular systems.
  • Smoking or Alcohol Dependency: Habits that may interfere with recovery or performance.
