Brief Summary

This study is to compare the two different lasers in evaluating the reoccurrence of darkish gums after treating with different wavelengths.

Patients visiting Vishnu dental college with dark gums in the upper and lower front teeth region will be taken and divided into 2 groups in the same patient. A total of 16 patients with 32 sites will be taken. One half of the mouth is treated with 810nm and the other half is treated with 470nm.  Chances of reoccurence of black gums is compared between both lasers. The duration of each participant is one year and benefits expected in participants are their esthetics.

Inclusion Criteria
    1. patients of age 18-30 years 2) Patients aware of the nature of physiological hyperpigmentation of their gums and who requested for improvement of their gingival appearance.
    1. Patients with the presence of mild to severe physiological melanin pigmentation of the gingiva in either maxilla or mandible.
Exclusion Criteria
    1. Patients with systemic diseases that can interfere with healing and medically compromised conditions.
    1. Pregnancy.
    1. History of post surgical keloids.
    1. Acute gingival and periodontal diseases.
    1. Pathologically pigmented lesions of gingiva.
