Inclusion Criteria

• Subjects satisfying the clinical and electrodiagnostic criteria for carpal tunnel syndrome.

CTS-6 EVALUATION TOOL:

A)Symptoms and History:

1.Numbness predominantly or exclusively in the median nerve territory- 3.5

2.Nocturnal numbness- 4

B)Physical examination:

3.Thenar atrophy and/or weakness- 5

4.Positive Phalenâ??s test- 5

5.Loss of 2-point discrimination- 4.5

6.Positive Tinel sign- 4

Total- 26

ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC CRITERIAS FOR CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME:

A.Distal medial motor latency >4.4ms.

B.Difference between distal motor latency of median and ulnar nerve >1.1ms.

C.Difference between distal sensory latency of median and ulnar nerve >0.2ms.

D.i. Difference between median and ulnar sensory latency on stimulating 4th digit and recording from wrist at equal distance >0.2ms.

ii.Difference between median and radial sensory latency on stimulating thumb and recording from wrist at equal distance >0.4ms.

E.Palm wrist conduction: difference between median and ulnar sensory latency across 8cm >0.4ms.

F.Inching technique: latency jump >0.2ms/cm.

G.Comparison of lumbricals (median nerve) and interosseous (ulnar nerve) latencies >=0.6ms

• Subjects willing to provide informed written consent

Exclusion Criteria

Subjects will not participate in the study if they meet any of the following criteria:

1.Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus

2.Hypothyroidism

3.Inflammatory arthritis

4.Pregnancy

5.History of previous wrist fracture.
