- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method General and disease specific health status, patient and carer satisfaction and preferences, readmission rates, length of stay, resource use and cost to the health service, carer burden and anxiety and carer and patient cost. Few differences in outcome were detected. Hospital at home does not reduce total health care costs for the conditions we studied in this trial. Total health care costs are significantly increased for patients recovering from a hysterectomy and those with chronic obstructive airways disease. There is some evidence that costs are shifted to primary care for elderly medical patients and those with chronic obstructive airways disease.
