Inclusion Criteria
Clinical signs of sepsis.
Age > 18 years
Informed consent available from patient or next of kin
Exclusion Criteria
Peripheral vascular disease/ peripheral vascular intervention to lower legs (vein grafts, varicose vein surgery)
Pre-existing reasons for oedema or flow differences in legs
Previous history of deep vein thrombosis
Technical reasons impeding application of foot pump to leg(s) e.g. leg ulcer/wound
Difficulty obtaining informed consent from patient or next of kin
Amputations of extremities
