Study & Design

- Primary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method It is predicted that the touch training will reduce symptom severity of SPD (self-report) and will lead to increased neural activity and connectivity (insula, somatosensory cortex, striatum, prefrontal regions, thalamus) during soft brushing (functional magnetic resonance imaging).
Assessment: directly after termination of the 4-week training; comparison with pre-training assessment
- Secondary Outcome Measures
Name Time Method Exploratory studies will be conducted to investigate whether tactile training leads to changes in the volume of grey matter in the regions of interest (magnetic resonance imaging; voxel-based morphometry).
Assessment: directly after termination of the 4-week training; comparison with pre-traiining assessment
