Inclusion Criteria

to be over 50 years old.
to have knees with Kellgren-Lawrence (K/L) grades 1-3 in one or both knees as evaluated using weight-bearing anteroposterior radiographs.
to experience current average pain of more than 4 and less than 9 on a Numeric Rating Score (NRS; 0-10 points)

Exclusion Criteria

(1) have a history of knee surgery or intra-articular corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid injection within 6 months19, (2) have a history of knee joint replacement or tibial osteotomy, (3) are receiving physical therapy, (4) have any other major joint pain (e.g. back, hip or ankle) which gives a greater effect than their knee pain for current limits of the ability, (5) are in case of contraindications of TENS (pacemakers, dermatological conditions, and abnormal sensation in the knees) , (6) are severe medical or nervous conditions, (7) do not usually use stairs, (8) do not have ability to walk without any ambulatory assistive device
