1. End stage glaucoma at least in one eye having a visual acuity of at least 6/36. (visual feild less than 10deg radius and mean deviation worse than 24dB)
2. IOP < 18 mm Hg on 2 consecutive visits (well controlled intraocular pressure)
1. Patients with any other disease that might have contributed to visual field loss at the time of initial visual field test.(These diseases include other optic neuropathies, strokes, brain tumours, retinal vein or artery occlusion, macular disease including age-related macular degeneration, central retinal detachment and proliferative diabetic retinopathy.)
2. Patients already on oral valproic Acid for any other systemic illness.
3. Patients allergic to valproic acid, peanut oil.
4. Patients with deranged liver function test, hepatitis, alcoholic liver diseases.
5. Female patients in childbearing age , who did not undergo family planning.
