Eligibility Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
- •To reliably classify participants into a group, the online survey asks filter questions about experiences with chronic pain episodes, i.e., \>3 months of persistent or recurrent pain (Treede et al., 2019\) and everyday pain (e.g., headache or toothache).
- •Group of people with no experience of chronic pain episodes: Participants are included if they are at least 18 years old; have sufficient knowledge of German (spoken and written); have no history of chronic musculoskeletal pain; and have no medical background.
- •Group of people with chronic musculoskeletal pain: Participants will be included if they are at least 18 years old; have sufficient knowledge of German (spoken and written); and have no red flags related to chronic musculoskeletal conditions eg. recently suffered severe trauma; have unintentional weight loss (of more than 10% body weight); have a history of cancer (in the past 5 years); are taking medications daily (e.g., pain medications); or have paresis and sensory disturbances (Lüdtke, Grauel, \& Laube, 2015\).
Exclusion Criteria
- •Related to both groups: Participants suffering from nociplastic pain, neuropathic pain, and/or cancer\-related pain will be excluded.
